Additionally, some of the city’s biggest chefs are already closing down, confident that if they don’t the scourge experienced in Europe will be duplicated here in Washington, DC within a matter of days. Celebrity chef José Andrés, who operates several well-known restaurants in DC, has announced in a moving video from his Twitter account that his restaurants will be closing for the time being — and that his employees and staff will enjoy full pay for the next 2 weeks.

“In this case, we need to bunker down... to make sure that this virus will go away, sooner rather than later. Let's be strong, let's be smart, let's love each other - this time, loving each other, is staying away from each other,” Andrés ends his video. In the address to patrons and restaurant goers, he explains that we can no longer deny that what’s happening in Europe with COVID-19 infections rising, will happen to us in the USA unless we take serious action.
