NASA MOON DISCOVERY: Far More Water On The Surface Than Previously Believed
From the NASA issued press release earlier today: "NASA's Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) has confirmed, for the first time, water on the sunlit surface of the Moon. This discovery indicates that water may be distributed across the lunar surface, and not limited to cold, shadowed places."
The NASA press release shares an intriguing piece of data:
Data from this location reveal water in concentrations of 100 to 412 parts per million – roughly equivalent to a 12-ounce bottle of water – trapped in a cubic meter of soil spread across the lunar surface.
The discovery contradicts the late 1960s Moon landing understanding of the Moon’s physics, as they had concluded the Moon was mostly dry aside from some frozen water in craters.
The greater than expected availability of water at or near the lunar surface could make the Moon, one day, a critical jumping point and fuel station for spacecraft bound for deep space missions.
NASA said it plans to send a human crew there to investigate the water discovery in 2024, “and establishing a sustainable human presence there by the end of the decade.”
Moon colony by 2030, folks! Gotta love it.
This news is huge, but was likely overshadowed online today by equally shocking terrestrial information about the Hunter Biden “laptop from Hell.”
