SpaceX's Inspiration4 Mission Liftoff An Apparent Success, As 3 Day Historic Mission Begins
The world’s first all-civilian orbital spaceflight crewed mission, as we reported on earlier in the week, has now successfully lifted off from Florida’s Kennedy Space Center. The civilian crew will spend about 3 days in orbit around Earth, performing experiments and enjoying the view from their SpaceX Dragon capsule - interestingly, their journey is almost entirely automated, as SpaceX relies heavily on autonomous flight mode - which could be a long term safety benefit, especially if the volume of commercial & civilian space travelers increases in the near future.
