According to The New York Times, yesterday’s (May 23) total new cases of COVID-19 in the USA declined to 14,144, a 38 percent case reduction over the last 14 days.

At the height of the pandemic, the daily death toll was above 3,000 — a 9/11/2001 worth of death every day, for weeks.

If this is the beginning of the end of COVID19… if we have FINALLY turned that last corner… then the time has come for looking into the possible origins of this virus, which disrupted life for all of us in a deep way for more than a year, and put millions out of their work and businesses, many permanently.

Healing is needed, and so much work needs to be done to restore our economy to what it was — from the airports to the cafes, restaurants and office buildings, it’ll take some time and resources to get things back as they were. And even then, I doubt things will go back to true normal for some time, because the public has been rattled for so long.

People won’t believe this is the finish line, and we are about to cross it.

Yet aside from healing, we need real answers. This can’t be allowed to happen to the world again.

And if any nation-state, company, or individual is to blame for COVID19’s spread - they’ll have to be held responsible, by all of us.
